I can always find the time to streamline my minds eye
And when it comes to writing the most original rhymes
I find that it just takes a thought a description of emotion
This is something that can’t be bought
But there is no secret potion just one common notion
That when rhyming and timing meet a bass line unwinding
And then mix with the beat to be dropped
The groove left behind can cause one to find
The mood of a room turn from cold to red hot
Lets light it up
I’m not just looking for big bucks
I’m trying to climb free of big fat cash ruts
Feeling like the man is always two steps behind me
I’m looking for an end I can never seem to find
See I work the grind daily
And it’s slowly driving me crazy
What to do I got to do, what do you want me to say
I can’t fight this feeling I’m always jonesing to play
Sick of all the half assed shit
Tired of empty days but can’t quit
It’s hard to stay on top of this musical trip
Frustration long time duration
Leaving me with the feeling
Of overwhelming impatience
So you know what I feel like doing now
Lets light it up
So it’s crystal clear to me now
I’m going to stop drop the beat and how
Make with the time cook up the fat rhyme
Bring it to the gig and feed the crowd
I can tell that you all are hungry
For the music and the fun and the love see
I can see it on you’re face
So lets light up this place
I hope that you can keep up
With the Friend of the peoples pace
But it an't no race everyone’s a winner
But I wouldn’t go so far to say
You won’t be called a sinner
So you know what to do dog
Lets light it up
